The Delhi District German Home was formed to create
a club for the community for social and recreational purposes.
One of the objectives was to preserve and encourage the traditions
of our German people as well as provide a social club.
It was established in 1949 and opened in Novemeber 1950. The German
Home Ladies Society was formed in December 1950 to help with the
social activities of the club and to foster the German culture
and language.
The German Home and the Ladies Society have established an excellent
rapport throughout our community. We are renowned for the tasty
and delicious meals served at our functions. Namely the "Chicken
and Cabbage Rolls".
On Friday and Saturday nights, the main hall is booked for Weddings
and Banquets and during the week various community organizations
have meetings.
The Schwarzwald
Keller lounge is located on the lower level. The Lounge
is open from Monday to Saturday and is a gathering place for the
members of the community. The Lounge can accommodate up to 100+
people for birthday, anniversary parties etc.
